Road Construction

For Timber Harvesting Access & All Land Management Needs:

Flag Road Layout; Tree and Stump Removal;

Excavation & Ditch Work; Resurfacing; Seeding

Road Building

From Start to Finish

When fully grown roadways are due to be mowed to preserve longevity of road and regeneration from over growing the road.

When grass is fully grown it becomes time to mow the shoulder. This preserves longevity of road and prevents tree regeneration from over growing the road.

Rebuilding Existing Roadway

Structure Installation

Old Structure removal; Install New Abutments, Bridges & Culverts; Erosion Control Measures

Kinds of Structures:

Concrete Box Culverts

Undersized stream crossing replaced on major logging access road.

Cross Drain Culverts

These are all armored with rocks for stabilization.

Steel Bridges

Steel beams are laid parallel to one another across abutments on either end and are overlaid with premade concrete decking for the roadway.

Replacing an improperly sized wood structure with a bank to bank bridge.

Wooden Bridges

Old wooden abutments are removed and replaced with concrete block abutments. A wood frame is built on top of the abutments with 12”x12”x20’ hemlock stringers, 6”x8”x16’ hemlock crossmembers and finally 4”x6” running boards to make the bridge surface.

Erosion Control Measures

Any new structure installation is seeded with conservation grass seed mix by the use of hand spreaders. Hay is then spread on top of the seed to retain moisture and accelerate grass seed growth.
